After an intense weekend training camp and a week of hard decisions, the coaching staff of the U18 ‘AAA’ Kenora Thistles have selected their 19-man roster for the 2024/2025 campaign.
The roster, which currently sits at 19, features eight returning players; Morgan Blackwood (’08 G), Alex Booth (’07 D), Wyatt Greer (’07 D), Jeremy Hutchison (’08 F), Cayson Lambert (’08 F), Cash Lappage (’08 D), Jack Noel (’07 F) and Carter Peters (’07 F).
The squad has a good mix of youth and experience with four 2009-born players, seven 2008-born and eight 2007-born.
This years’ roster features eight skaters from Kenora, five from Dryden, three from Thunder Bay, two from Fort Frances and one from Emo.
Four of the 19 played for the Thunder Bay Kings last season, spread over their U15, U16 and U18 ‘AAA’ teams. One of those four, Brady Cates (‘08 G), is the reigning Hockey Northwestern Ontario U16 Player of the Year.
The 2024/2025 season is set to start September 28th on the road against the NorMan Northstars, with the home opener set for October 5th against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
