Blackwood Stops 50 In Loss To Selects

Morgan Blackwood was busy between the pipes for the Kenora Thistles Sunday afternoon as the Thistles fell 9-1 to the EastMan Selects.

Blackwood, who hails from Thunder Bay, made 50 saves on the afternoon. Over his four Manitoba U18 ‘AAA’ Hockey League starts he’s made 145 saves, which works out to just over 36 shots saved per game.

Carter Peters had the lone goal for Kenora in the game, which was scored on the powerplay in the second period. Assists on the goal went to Jack Noel and Tallen Caron.

With four regular players not in the lineup for the Thistles, AP call-up Jaxen Savage once again found himself in the lineup. Despite not recording a point, he played very well and had multiple chances to score.

Cayson Lambert is not on the scoresheet, but played extremely hard and almost scored multiple short-handed goals.

Next up for Kenora is a mid-week tilt in Winnipeg with the Wild. Puck drop on October 25th is set for 7:15pm CST at the Hockey For All Centre. The game will be broadcast live on FloHockey.
