Kenora, Parkland Reignite Rivalry In Dauphin

It’s another road trip for the Kenora Thistles as they take on the Parkland Rangers in Dauphin, MB this Saturday and Sunday.

The Thistles come into the weekend on the heels of a 10-0 loss to the Winnipeg Wild, while the Rangers are coming off a big 10-1 win over the NorMan Northstars. In that game Parkland was led up front by Hayden Seib, who finished with three goals and four assists. With those points Seib, a third-year forward for the Parkland Rangers, now leads the team in points and assists. Cash Clarkson and Cade Legaarden are tied for the team lead with four goals.

Second year goaltender Chase Glover currently leads his club with a goals against average of 4.15 and a save percentage of 0.890.

Like the Thistles, the Rangers have a relatively new team this year with only eight returning players. Of those eight, five are in their third year on the team.

Parkland heads into the weekend in tenth place in the Manitoba U18 ‘AAA’ Hockey Leauge with a record of 2-4-2-0. The only other win for the Rangers was back on October 14th agains the Wild.

When it comes to special teams, the Rangers have the third-best powerplay in the league (32.6%) and the tenth-place penalty kill (73.9%).

The Thistles and Rangers split their four-game season series in 2022/2023, which each team claiming both wins at home. Of the returning players, Seib led the way with five points (one goal, four assists) and four penalty in minutes in those four games against Kenora.

For Kenora, now-alternate captain Reidar Paquette collected four points (two goals, two assists) against Parkland in 2022/2023. Wyatt Greer and Carter Peters each had two assists over those games, while Reid Pitura had one assist.

One of the biggest obstacles for the Thistles this weekend is injuries, as both Greer and Cohl Elliott will be out of the lineup.

Game one takes place Saturday at 7:30pm CST, while game two is Sunday at 1:30pm. If you won’t be in Dauphin, both games will be broadcast live on FloHockey.
