Savage Scores Twice In Kenora Loss

The Kenora Thistles fell 8-4 Sunday afternoon at the hands of the Parkland Rangers.

The two teams, who met Saturday night at Credit Union Place in Dauphin, finished the first period all tied at one. Jack Noel had the goal for Kenora (his second of the season, assisted by Cayson Lambert), while Cash Clarkson had the Parkland goal.

Penalty trouble plagued the Thistles in the second with the Rangers scoring with the man advantage three times, taking a 6-1 lead into the third period.

It was in that third period that Jaxen Savage, playing in his fifth game with the Thistles, scored two goals. The first was set up by Callum McCormick, while Carter Peters had a helper on Savage’s second. Peters all scored in the final frame, his fourth of the season and second of the weekend, assisted by James Bichon.

James Hill had the start in net for Kenora, though like Saturday he split the game with Morgan Blackwood.

Next up for the Thistles is a home series in Kenora this coming weekend, November 4th and 5th, as they host the Yellowhead Chiefs at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre.
