Thistles Come Home With Road Point

The Kenora Thistles picked up a point Friday night as they fell 4-3 to the Winnipeg Thrashers in overtime.

Cayson Lambert opened up the scoring, his second of the season, with assists from Cohl Elliott and Brady Richards. The Thrashers would respond with two of their own in the opening period for a 2-1 lead which the home team would take to the locker room.

It was all Kenora in the second period, as both Jeremy Hutchison (from Lambert and Elliott) and Carter Peters (from James Bichon and Callum McCormick) scored on the powerplay.

Winnipeg, who found themselves down 3-2 headed into the final frame, managed to tie things up with less than three minutes to go (Brandon Corda from Crosby Harrison and Carter Cabral).

In the extra period, Rohan Guevarra beat James Hill 35 seconds in (assisted by Corda) to claim the extra point for the Thrashers.

The Thistles are next in action Sunday as they welcome the EastMan Selects to the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre.
