Thistles Comeback Comes Up Short

The U18 ‘AAA’ Kenora Thistles came up short in Souris Saturday night, dropping a 7-3 decision to the Southwest Cougars.

Despite falling behind in the first period, Jackson Tucker found the back of the net on the powerplay to open up his Thistles scoring account and have the game level after 20 minutes.

The Cougars beat James Hill twice in the second period, with the home team ahead 3-1 headed into the third period.

The Thistles tied up the game early in the final frame thanks to Tallen Caron (from Reid Pitura) and Bo Gartzke, but that’s as close as they would come. The Cougars would respond with four unanswered goals to cap their 7-3 win.

The two teams will pay again tomorrow afternoon in Souris with puckdrop coming at 1:30pm CST. The game will be broadcast live on FloHockey.
