Yellowhead Visits Kenora For Weekend Series

After three straight road games, the Kenora Thistles return home this weekend for a two-game set at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre against the Yellowhead Chiefs.

Kenora’s last game was an 8-4 loss to the Parkland Rangers in Dauphin, MB, while Yellowhead is coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Southwest Cougars in Souris, MB. In that game, the Chiefs found themselves down 3-0 headed into the third period where Dylan Miko, Cole Hunter and Quinn Schutte even things up.

Hunter, a seventh-round pick of Spokane (WHL) in 2023, currently leads his team with five goals and eight points over nine games. Max Collyer, who is service as Yellowhead’s captain this year, leads the team with five assists. Between the pipes it’s Kieran Madill (2006) who played for the U17 Brandon Wheat Kings last year, and Connor Rapley (2007) who spent last season with the U17 WestMan Ice Bandits.

Overall, the Chiefs are in tenth place in the Manitoba U18 ‘AAA’ Hockey League with a record of 3-3-1-2. On the powerplay, they’re sixth (20%), which is exactly where they sit in penalty kill percentage as well (81.2%).

The first game of the series is Saturday at 7:30pm CST, with game two coming Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm CST. If you can’t make it down for the games, they will be broadcast live on FloHockey.
