Thistles Rally To Beat Lightning

The Kenora Thistles rallied on Sunday afternoon to beat the Interlake Lightning 6-5.

Kenora fell behind 4-0 after the first period, and were quickly down 5-0 one the puck dropped in the second.

Hudson Gagne scored his third of the season two minutes later, assisted by Callum McCormick and Jeremy Hutchison, to breath new life into the Thistles offence.

Cole Bodnar, Bo Gartzke and McCormick would all find the back of the net by the end of the second period, making it a 5-4 game headed into the third and final frame.

In the third period Tallen Caron played hero with his second and third goals of the season, including the game winner mid-way through the period.

McCormick and Bodnar would finish the game with four points each (one goal, three assists), Caron with three points (two goals, one assist) and Gartzke with two points (one goal, one assist).

Between the pipes, James Hill made 38 saves for his first win of the season.

Kenora has won two of the past three games to start 2024, and are next in action Wednesday as they visit the Winnipeg Thrashers.
