Thistles Win In Shootout

The Kenora Thistles picked up their second win of the season Saturday night 4-3 over the Parkland Rangers in a shootout.

Jack Noel had the first goal of the game, set up by Cohl Elliott and Callum McCormick. The Rangers would respond ten minutes later (Ethan Carnegie from Cam Sarna and Cash Clarkson) and the two teams would head to the dressing rooms all tied at one.

The two teams would trade goals in the second period, with Reidar Paquette (from Carter Peters and Cash Lappage) and Cayson Lambert (from Cole Bodnar and Reid Pitura) scoring for the home side. No goals were scored in the third, which forced overtime.

In the shootout Peters would score for Kenora, while Morgan Blackwood stopped all three Parkland shots to seal the win.

In the win, which is his second of the season, Blackwood stopped 42 of the 45 shots he faced.

The two teams will play again Sunday afternoon at the Moncrief Constructions Sports Centre.
